Posture Workshop.

I bring over 20 years of experience as a practicing Osteopath including being a clinic tutor to my posture workshops. My ‘posture credentials’ also include being the Osteopath for BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing during ‘Bruce Forsyth’s time hosting the show. With our increasingly sedentary workstation posture, lower back pain is now the 5th most common reason people see any health care practitioner. In fact, according to research by the British Chiropractic Association, British workers take an average of 12 days off work a year with back pain.

Length of workshop

One hour is the most popular length, (45-minute and 30-minute workshops also available). All workshops can be in person or online as needed.

Who is it for?

Companies who want to help staff to be able to improve their wellbeing through better posture both at work and home.

Attendees’ take-out

Attendees will gain a clear understanding of how to set up the perfect workstation and how to take care of their posture at work, rest, and play.

Workshop content

The posture workshop starts by explaining the unique nature of our upright posture. We review the transition from ape to human to enable complex bipedalism and show how our seated posture compromises our physiology putting stress on the spine.  This sets up the perfect platform to better understand how to take care of posture within our more sedentary lifestyle. I cover the best ways to set up an ergonomic workstation both at home and in the office and explain the benefits of different stretches and exercise regimes. We compare different mattresses and sleeping positions and the benefits of different types of exercise from cardio, to yoga, pilates, and more. The practical part of the session includes the principles of stretching and goes through some simple stretches for home and office. The one-hour workshop ends with a ten-minute Q+A.
